Google Pics
What it is
Google Pics is an AI image generation and editing app inside Google Workspace, introduced at Google I/O 2026. It is built on Google's Nano Banana image models, with Gemini powering editing. Users can generate new visuals from a text prompt or upload images from Google Drive, Google Photos or a computer and modify them. Editing works at the object level, so individual elements can be moved, resized or changed, and text within an image can be edited or translated. Pics runs as a standalone web app and inside Docs, Slides and Drive, with files saved and shared through Drive. It is available on Workspace Business Standard and higher plans and to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Editor's notes
More context from AI BirdView
A common frustration with image generators is having to regenerate an entire picture just to fix one detail. Google Pics addresses that with object-based editing, letting you adjust a single element while leaving the rest of the composition alone, and it does this inside the Workspace apps where many people already build documents and presentations.
- Generates images from prompts or edits uploads from Drive, Photos or your device
- Moves, resizes or changes individual objects in a scene
- Edits and translates text inside an image while keeping the design intact
- Opens directly from Google Docs, Slides and Drive
- Shares images through links so teammates can make their own edits
Google Pics is best for teams and individuals already on Google Workspace or a Google AI subscription who need social graphics, invitations, mockups or presentation visuals without switching to a separate design tool. A practical tip: start from an existing image in Drive when you can, then refine it with targeted object edits, which tends to give more predictable results than generating every visual from scratch.
