Grok Build
What it is
Grok Build is a coding agent from the company behind Grok, launched in 2026. You install it with a single command on macOS, Linux, WSL or Windows, open a project and describe tasks in plain language; the agent reads the codebase, finds the right files and makes changes. It runs as a full-screen, mouse-friendly terminal interface, headlessly in scripts and CI, or inside other apps through the Agent Client Protocol. Features include plan mode for reviewing steps before code changes, parallel subagents with worktree isolation, sandboxing and permissions, hooks, skills, plugins, MCP servers and AGENTS.md support. It defaults to Grok models but accepts custom models. Access comes with a SuperGrok subscription or an API key.

Editor's notes
More context from AI BirdView
Grok Build brings the Grok models into the terminal as a full coding agent rather than a chat window. It follows the pattern developers already know from other agentic CLIs, so teams can point it at a repository, describe what they want and review the plan before anything changes, while still having escape hatches for automation and custom setups.
- Plan mode lays out the steps for review before code is edited
- Parallel subagents can split work, using git worktrees to stay out of each other's way
- Headless mode with streaming JSON output fits scripts, bots and CI pipelines
- Supports MCP servers, hooks, skills, plugins and existing AGENTS.md files
- A config file lets you swap in custom models from other providers
It is best for developers already paying for SuperGrok, or teams using the xAI API, who want an agentic coding workflow comparable to other terminal agents. A practical tip: after installing, run grok inspect inside your project to see which instructions, skills, hooks and MCP servers it picked up, and start with a read-only prompt such as asking it to explain the repository before letting it make edits.
